Ik voel me vaak een menselijke seismograaf: in mijn werk breng ik mijn innerlijke chaos in kaart. Vaak bouw ik die chaos eerst digitaal op, zo ontstaan er fictieve decors waarin ik deze psychische wildernis aftast en ontbloot. In het proces benader ik de ruimtes als een soort theater: een decor met licht, perspectief, vloeren en wanden, geloofwaardig genoeg om in te kunnen stappen. Objecten die ik plaats zijn herkenbaar, maar worden door hun context vreemd: er blijft altijd iets over dat zich aan classificatie onttrekt. In de vertaalslag naar het tekenen wordt het digitale beeld stoffelijk en komt er handschrift in.
Ons postreligieuze tijdperk vraagt om nieuwe vormen van zingeving om de wereld te begrijpen. In mijn werk zoek ik naar een beeldtaal die iets voelbaar maakt van de onderstroom die ons vormt: de rauwe mentale constructies onder de oppervlakte, met al hun kwetsbare schoonheid.

I often feel like a human seismograph: in my work I map my inner chaos. I frequently build that chaos digitally first, giving rise to fictional sets in which I explore and dissect this psychological wilderness. In the process, I approach these spaces as a kind of theatre: a set with light, perspective, floors and walls, believable enough to step into. The objects I place are recognizable, yet become strange through their context: there is always something that resists classification.
Our post-religious age calls for new forms of meaning to make sense of the world. In my work, I search for a visual language that makes tangible the undercurrent that shapes us: the raw mental structures beneath the surface, with all their vulnerable beauty.
